The Big Read!
The Big Read - A message from Miss Wells:
Over the next three weeks students, staff and parents are coming together to read Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. There is a website and blog where you can post comments and share activities, which can be found at www.klsbigread.weebly.com.
You can also post comments via KLS Moodle or follow the official Twitter page - @KLSBigRead. You can download a FREE electronic copy of the book by following the links on the ‘klsbigread’ website mentioned above. There are audio versions available and the traditional paperback or hardback copies are relatively inexpensive. You can also access an eBook copy via Google Books or pick up a paper copy from the Library.

World Book Day 2011 - with a Whovian twist...
To celebrate World Book Day 2011, the School Library hosted a variety of events including a Doctor Who-inspired activity day.
Inspired by the Time Lord’s “TARDIS” time machine, the library was transformed into an audio-visual delight for students of all ages, with a veritable cornucopia of new books, vibrant displays and competitions all designed to promote reading and fun.
Several students took part in a design-a-TARDIS competition, with one lucky student taking home a brand-new Doctor Who audio-book!

Adisa the Performance Poet Visit
Year 9 students at Kings Langley School were invited to watch a very animated and energetic performance from Adisa The Verbalizer, a talented performance poet who inspires and educates young people through what he calls “verbalism.” Using extracts from his book “Lip-Hopping with the Fundi-Fu” Adisa demonstrated to pupils that poetry can be accessible, modern and fun, as well as being a medium to explore fundamental issues.
Following on from his performance Adisa ran workshops with English and Drama students, during which they explored the raw power of words and rhymes, with students devising their own poetry based on personal identity and life experiences. It was an absorbing, evocative and often moving experience for many of the students and staff involved.
